PRAVARA INSTITUTE OF RESEARCH AND EDUCATION IN NATURAL AND SOCIAL SCIENCES (PIRENS)
 

The Pravara Institute of Research & Education in Natural and Social Sciences (PIRENS) was established in 1984 by the Hon'ble Balasaheb Vikhe Patil  the worthy son of PadmaShri Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil with the objectives of upliftment of the rural downtrodden and exploited peasants and development of rural society in the Pravara region.  It is ardently working for generating awareness regarding the human resource of the working class and is conducting skill oriented trainings in artisan work required as per the  needs for a gainful employment at village level.  The institute is an affiliated and a recognised body for conducting research in Social sciences and is accorded with recognition by the University of Poona.

· M.B.A. Centre running full time 2 years M.B.A. course and degree and diploma in computer management.
· Krishi Vigyan Kendra for Transfer of Agricultural Technology and Extension for farmers funded by Indian Council of Agriculture Research, New Delhi.
· Anganwadi Training Centre for providing basic training to Anganwadi workers under the Integrated Child Development Scheme.
· Training Centre in Employment generating skill oriented rural artisan work.

ORGANISATION PROFILE

Pravara Institute of Research and Education in Natural and Social Sciences (PIRENS), Non-Government Organisation is established at Loni Bk., Tal. Shrirampur, Dist. Ahmednagar (M.S.) during the year 1984.  The objectives of this Institute are :

¨ To conduct research on various aspects particularly in related to rural development, water conservation and management, opportunities for self employment generation and socio-economic development of various communities in the rural area
¨ To conduct various vocational training programmes with regards to non farm and farm activities for rural youths so that they can get self employment opportunities in the rural area.
¨ To conduct survey and impact studies of various projects and schemes so that the effectiveness of such activities/programmes can be known to others.

To fulfil these activities, PIRENS has various projects and programmes:

INSTITUTE OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (IBM)
Institute of Business Management is established during the year 1995 for educating the management skills and knowledge to the educated youths particularly from the rural area.  This is Master Degree Course (Master in Business Management) where intake capacity of the students of 60 per year.  Besides MBA, this Institute is also conducting Diploma Courses in Computer Sciences and now has started Master in Computer Management (MCM) courses.  All these courses are recognised by University of Poona.  For this, the Institute is having separate building and infrastructure.

WATERSHED DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME :

Since 1997, PIRENS is implementing Watershed Development Programme for which this Institute is getting financial help from Indo-German Watershed Programe and DPAP.  For watershed development programme, PIRENS has adopted 15 villages.  For implementing of these projects, Institute has separate infrastructure and required facilities.
